Good Omens is a classic piece of comedic fiction which is witty, subtle and often down right hilarious; but it is a little shot on actual plot, character development and I highly doubt any publisher would touch it today. So, confession time. This is the first time I have read any book by Terry Pratchett. Continue reading “Good omens – book review”

When the Heavens Fall review
When the Heavens Fall (written by Marc Turner) is an enjoyable fast paced sword and sorcery novel with some intriguing characters and concepts, but it falls short of being great due to its absence of character development, exposition and world building. I’ve mentioned on other blogs recently how I have found it extremely difficult toContinue reading “When the Heavens Fall review”
Ghost Warriors by Gav Thorpe
Ghost Warriors is a novel which is as ephemeral as its title and whilst having a lot of potential; it fails to solidify in enough places to really grab the reader or to live up to its promise. Despite all its flaws though it is worth reading as one of the small number of AeldariContinue reading “Ghost Warriors by Gav Thorpe”
Deviations and illustrations of the soul; the rise of the AI artist
Amidst the news that FTXcrypto went under and took a lot of cyrptobros’ money with it there was an interesting development in the art realm recently. DeviantArt; the popular online repository of digital and scanned traditional art had introduced a new policy which meant that any art posted on the site would automatically be includedContinue reading “Deviations and illustrations of the soul; the rise of the AI artist”
Erza, queen of the fairies unboxing
Long-time followers of this blog will know that I am a big fan of the anime Fairy Tail and that my favourite character in the show is the Queen of the Fairies; Erza Scarlett. I like the character arc that she has and whilst the fan service in her design is not always to myContinue reading “Erza, queen of the fairies unboxing”

So, the news this week has been full of reports of Twitters impending demise following the mass layoffs, lockouts and other antics of its new owner Elon Musk. Now I’m no fan of Mr Musk, as a rule I despise people with messiah complexes and his is less of a complex and more of aContinue reading “So long and thanks for all the tweets”
A bit of an update; I still live!!
So, bar my last post you may have noticed I have not been posting much lately (and if you haven’t noticed then how dare you not!! I jest of course). Being honest my mental health has not been, and continues not to be. the best this last two months. Am not going to go intoContinue reading “A bit of an update; I still live!!”
Babel – as emotionless as the Empire it portrays
So I will be completely honest. Of late, I have avoided buying pretty much any new books in the sci fi and fantasy genres for the simple reason that they have become unsubtle social justice commentaries with the allegorical subtlety of a brick falling down the stairs. The current trend towards revisionist views and applyingContinue reading “Babel – as emotionless as the Empire it portrays”
SAO progressive vol 8 – crashing into the wall
As long time followers of this blog will know I am a huge fan of Sword Art Online but I have felt recently that things seem to be running out of steam a bit. The last book of the Unital Ring arc was, in my opinion, a lot of filler and added nothing and theContinue reading “SAO progressive vol 8 – crashing into the wall”
The psychological tricks of game design
So, after a rather successful launch and a massive amount of vitriol; the noise around Diablo immortal has started to die down. Not the hatred of it by any means, but the endless coverage on social media Twitch and YouTube has finally started to subside. Though the recent delay of it’s China release may bringContinue reading “The psychological tricks of game design”
